Alpha Brain Review – Is it worth the hype?

So what’s it all about?

Well let’s start with the basics. “Nootropic” is a phrase that is only really falling into everyday language in recent years. A nootropic is simply defined as a nutritional supplement that helps support brain activity in terms of speed, clarity, concentration and memory.

Nootropics though, go back as far as the 1960’s, when they first came to the fore to help people who suffered from motion sickness. But fast forward to today, and we have a more nuanced and specialised area of products.

Nootropics are increasingly being used as supplements to aide cognitive functionality in the human mind. Alpha Brain is another product in the area of cognitive enhancements. What brought it to into the spotlight in recent years was its endorsement by comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan.

Rogan was involved right from the early stages in the creation and fruition of Alpha Brain with its manufacturer, ONNIT. And the company push this product as a supplement that can take brain functionality up a level.

As a dietary supplement, Alpha Brain is scientifically based on studies that equated the reaction certain nutrients have on neurotransmitters – the chemicals that transmit messages across chemical synapse’s. A synapse being the meeting point between two nerve cells.

One of the primary benefits of the use of Alpha Brain is that when you use it, it does not come with some of the pitfalls that may come with say for example caffeine or high sugared drinks. An elevated lift which is followed by a need for a repeat intake in order to maintain some equilibrium.

Supplements like Alpha Brain could probably even do with moving away from that title – supplement. The focus should be more on its inclusion as an element of what is needed for solid, purposeful mental functioning. Sleep and diet are rightly seen as corner stones of high achieving brain functionality. But the likes of this type of nootropic, can play as important a role.

Having an edge in a world as busy as ours, is often seeing as the tipping point by which you can gain that extra yard to reach your potential. The clarity and sharpness of mind that comes with nootropic’s can be seen as giving an individual that required edge. In Alpha Brain, there exists a product that has the capacity to do just that.

The popular supplement can be used to help with motivation and memory. While no supplement could feasibly have the capacity to do this on its own, Alpha Brain does constitute an important element that works with other factors to help with these cognitive functions.

So while motivation is not going to go from zero to a hundred, simply on the basis of taking this nootropic, it does have a role to play and does assist this fulfilment of mental capabilities when combined with improving other facets of your life.

So What’s in Alpha Brain?

One of the primary ingredients in Alpha Brain is ac-11 Cat’s Claw extract. Something of a mouthful in its own right, but basically what this is bark extract. This type of bark extract has scientific evidence to back up claims that it can help in your bodies attempts to repair damaged DNA.

Separately, it has known use in helping to improve those suffering from the likes of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. In the context of Alpha Brain though, one of its main functions is to decrease lipid peroxidation.  Lipid peroxidation is in layman’s terms, a process whereby cells are damaged.

Another key ingredient is Onnit Flow Blend. This is a fusion of four different elements: Oat Straw, phosphatidylserine, L-Theanine and L-Tyrosine.

Oat Straw extract is known for it benefit in dealing with symptoms of fatigue and its ability to help reduce stress.

Phosphatidylserine has been used in recent years for its effect on memory loss and cerebral cohesion. It is a substance in the brain that diminishes with time, so its reintroduction helps stem the flow of its natural loss.

L-Theanine is an amino acid long associated with its benefits of relaxing the mind. It is an amino acid found in some mushrooms but primarily in green and black tea leaves.

L-Tyrosine. Is also an amino acid and derives from phenylalanine and can be found in meat, wheat and dairy products. It is an element that is used in the industry to improve memory function and alertness; and is included for the same reasons here.

Whist Onit Flow Blend is the most prominent ingredient with a presence of 650mg, Cat’s Claw extract makes up 350mg of the product. The smaller elements include Vitamin B6, of which there is just 10mg and Onnit Fuel Blend of which there is 65mg.

Onnit Focus Blend is somewhere in the middle ground {240 mg} and is composed of L-Alpha glycerylphosphorylcholine, Bacopa monnieri extract, and Huperzia serrata extract. Bacopa monnieri is a herb that is used in conjunction with Alzheimer’s and also ADHD. In the context of Alpha Brain though, it aides memory and attention and it’s inclusion is relevant for this reason.

Does Alpha Brain Work?

`With clinical trials under its belt and with celebrity endorsements backing it up, it is easy to get caught up with the momentum that has swept Alpha Brain into a position of such popularity. But does it work?

The 13 ingredients make it a complex nootropics product. The reality though appears that this product works well and with more effect if you are willing to put in some ground work elsewhere. So if you eat a balanced and nutritious diet and sleep in regular and settled patterns then the product is not going to necessarily have a profound effect on you and your cognitive capacity. For those though who may not have the time or organisation or even motivation to have so balanced a life and diet, then the effects tend to be stronger.

That is not to say that it is merely a quick fix or even a shortcut. It is more a case that the background and lifestyle of the person consuming this product, will have a large role to play with regards to whether it will be particularly effective or not.

Pros and Cons

The pros are relative to Alpha Brain’s effectiveness. But while it may be a sliding scale of effective results, the results are still evident. The product has the capacity to improve an individual’s memory and ability to retrieve information with speed. It can also increase alertness, ability to concentrate and energy levels.

The knock on effect of such positive results is invariably that the mood of the person can improve substantially, on the basis of suck strong cognitive results.

The cost of any product is always a significant factor with regards to its worthiness.  Another element of the cost is if it is affordable to the individual. The cost is not overly substantial; but the point of reason is whether it has enough of an effect on your well being and cognitive capacity, to prove its worth.

One large positive though, is the refund policy. It is not merely a case of money back if you are not satisfied with the product, but ONNIT, its manufacturers, advise that if you order any of their entry size supplements and you are not satisfied with it, you will get a full refund. But the big plus is that you do not need to wait until the product is returned – you can keep the product and receive your refund.

Possible side effects of any product are always going to be a cause for concern. With Alpha Brain, as with any product of this ilk, the chemistry of ones brain is being reshaped in some way. This is not necessarily, immediately a bad thing. But such is the level of clarity and focus the product gives you, there have been cases where people have had dreams that are discomforting in their level of evocation.

So, should you buy it?

There are a few elements to study before you come to your decision. Firstly, if you have an interest or a need for the product. The reality is, if you have read this far, then you probably do.

With that now a given, the question most would then ask, is does it work? Well the reality is that it can work. Very much so. But how positive the reaction you have is largely based on your own situation. How healthy you are in the first place? Your diet and sleep, your mental well-being. This will all have some role to play in what you get out of it.

If you are wavering though, the money back guarantee is a strong selling point. Also the fact that entry size supplements do not even have to be returned in order to secure a refund in the case of this product not working, means that there does not have to be any level of risk.
